Outside time. Far from Maridan's favorite time of day. It wasn't quite as bad as Group Therapy. Nothing was. At least with the outside time only the patients that had proven themselves to be less violent would be there. Maridan was still there to maintain the peace though. The patients that she least looked forward to seeing weren't going to be there. There was no way that men like Gerald, who had dressed before as an orderly and raped other patients, would never get the green light to outside time. Thank God. She sighed in a relaxed way. At least it was a windy day, and the sun barely crept out from behind the clouds. She just couldn't help but wonder who the drama would be coming from today...

Jamie was allowed to wander outside. Why? She had no clue. She hated being let free, then being drug back inside the building that she loathed. A shudder ran down her spine as she sat under a tree, staring at the building as she plucked a dandelion from the lawn and then picked two others and began to make a braid, all the while staring at the Asylum.....

Maridan looked at Jamie. She was one of the ones that they spoke about, right? She wasn't near as violent as the rest of the people here were, so Mari naturally felt more comfortable than she would have otherwise. She wondered if something was wrong though by the way she was staring at the asylum. "Why are you looking there? Aren't you glad to be out?" she asked, truly just curious about it. She wouldn't want to stare down the place holding her captive if she could help it. Then again, it had been years before anyone held her back.

Jamie had begun to space out as she braided the stems of the weeds that she held, just doing it automatically and not even really thinking about it. How long had she done this with horses manes and tails? More like when had she last done it with their manes and tails? Jamie missed being with horses. The sweet smell of hay and the gentle sound of horses snorting filled Jamie's mind before she was yanked back to reality by one of the guards.
Jamie shrugged. "I don't know..." she thought about it for a moment. Was she glad to be out? "Not really..." she said, looking back down to her braiding. It had gone crooked and Jamie began to unbraid the stems slowly. She hated being let outside, having the taste of the air on her lips, then to be dragged back inside a few, short, precious hours later. It was practically torture for Jamie to go back into that building, and she tried to tell them that, but they ignored her protests, saying she needed the sun....

Maridan shook her head. "Yeah, me either," she said honestly. She wondered where Hirofumi was right now. Lately he made her nervous with the way that he didn't care about anything else but getting the patients to fear him. He wasn't always like that, she wouldn't befriend a mere psycho like that. She scratched the back of her neck and shook her head, forcing herself back to the moment. "They think that outside time is necessary. In my experience it just causes unrest. Not that they would listen to someone like me anyway."
She carried much less weight here than other people, and she wasn't close to Koba Matsuoka, which was a really big part of why some people got away with things. He was generally a fair person, but he was so busy with his outside job that they didn't really see him around that often. "I want to thank you, though, for being so much easier to deal with than most of the patients here."

Jamie nodded slightly, wondering why this guard was talking to her. She sighed slightly as she began to rebraid the plants. SHe shrugged slightly. "Maybe if you stuck t your point and stayed hte course.." she suggested, wanting to yawn a little. She was tired, black rings under her eyes like usual as she glanced up at Maridan. "Ummm...sure I guess?" she said, unsure of how to answer. Since when did guards thank or not abuse the patients? Jamie looked slightly surprised. "Why are you thanking me?" she asked, wondering if teh girl was just pulling a mind game on her...

Maridan tilted her head a little bit. That sleepless look was on most the patients' faces. The night brought untold terror to most of them, it was nothing short of a miracle that they were able to attend therapy most days. At least there wasn't so often the scum that would rape the patients, as she had thought earlier of Gerald - though she heard terrible stories about the same thing happening back when it was an orphanage rather than an asylum. How someone could treat a child that way she still couldn't figure out, but she also didn't try very hard to make that connection with minds like that. She smiled as Jamie spoke, then shook her head. "I already told you why I'm thanking you. There aren't very many patients who deal so well with being outdoors. Especially toward the security guards."

"Oh.. well you know, I've had my sedatives for the day, I'm all good and calm," Jamie ssaid sarcastically, almost smiling at the guard...

Maridan nodded softly. "Sedatives... Yes, I guess that those are for most patients, though you wouldn't guess that by the way that they act." She looked at Jamie as though she were a strange creature, because most patients were not nearly as calm as she was. She almost expected that this was a trap, and that soon, once her guard was down, this girl was going to attack her. Security guards didn't have a very long life expectancy in this place, but Matsuoka had so many people that he could just recruit back in to take their place.

"I was just joking you know." Jamie said, coc.king an eyebrow at the curious expression on Maridan's face. Jamie sighed. "So why do they let us out here if they're only going to drag us back in?" Jamie asked to no one in particular. Glancing down at the braid of flowers in her hands, Jamie looked back up at Maridan. "Do you know how to make a daisey chain?" she asked..

Maridan shook her head. "We have to allow patients time outside, that is true. But we can't keep them outside forever. I guess they think that it makes you comply more with us if we let you out." She thought that it was sort of messed up that she had to word it that way. She wasn't the one that was holding them back! "I don't think that I've ever tried," she admitted, about the daisy chain. "Why, is that what you're doing? Or do you not know either?"

Jamie listened quietly. "I see.." she said, then looked down at the flowers in her hand again. "I know how, I was kind of wondering...if you wanted to join me? It's kind of what I do when they let us outside..There's nothing else really to do.." Jamie said quietly, glancing up at the guard before looking down at the flowers once more...

Maridan glanced around. It was hardly proper for a guard to stop watching patients just to engage in some daisy chain creating, but it was a slow day and would keep Jamie occupied in any case. If Hiro came out for guard duty he would probably just shake his head at her for interfering. A small smile came to Mari's face and she nodded. "Then you could show me how to do it?" she asked softly, tilting her head. She couldn't help but be curious about the process, because deep down she was still girly. It was good to see that a patient was still creative.

"Well..you just braid the flower stems like you would braid hair, and whenever you begin to run out of stem, you put a new flower in, and start using that stem to braid..Like this," Jamie said, her finger moving gracefully as she braided three flower stems, finally reaching an end and slipping another dandelion in, continuing to braid slowly, so that the guard could see.
"See? That's all..Here.." Jamie said, handing Maridan a handful of dandelions..
